One of the oldest choirs in the world is singing in northwest Montana this weekend. The Vienna Boys Choir performs at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in McClaren Hall at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell.<\/p>\n
Tickets start at $39, including service fees, according to the Daily Inter Lake. They are sold at wccmt.org or by phone at 406 756 1400.<\/p>\n
The choir was founded in 1498 by decree of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, the Daily Inter Lake reported, citing the choir. Today it is a nonprofit that runs a school for about 330 students ages 6 to 19. The choir has about 90 active choristers split into four touring choirs.<\/p>\n
The Wachholz College Center also hosts CelloGayageum at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. The duo pairs a Western cello with the gayageum, a traditional Korean zither with 12 strings. Tickets for that show start at $25.<\/p>\n
Kalispell is a long drive from the Hi-Line, but U.S. 2 makes it a straight shot, and families with young singers may find this one worth the trip.<\/p>\n
The Wachholz College Center is at 795 Grandview Drive, Kalispell, on the Flathead Valley Community College campus.<\/p>\n
