The Latin Grammys are bringing a remarkably varied group of artists to Las Vegas in November. Rosalía, Anitta, Daddy Yankee, Jorge Drexler, Juanes and Mon Laferte are among the names confirmed in the first performance announcement for the 27th annual ceremony.

The show takes place Thursday, November 12, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. According to the Latin Recording Academy’s October 20 announcement, Roselyn Sánchez will return as host. Univision will broadcast the ceremony, with the principal telecast scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern.

A lineup that refuses an easy label

The initial performer list also includes Banda Los Recoditos, Silvana Estrada, Kany García, Carín León, Vivir Quintana, Rawayana, Elena Rose and Xavi. That is a wide musical map: regional Mexican styles, Brazilian pop, Puerto Rican and Caribbean influences, singer-songwriter traditions and ambitious contemporary production.

Daddy Yankee will appear as the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year. The announcement is especially notable for an artist whose career helped carry reggaeton from a regional movement into the center of global pop.

The nominations underscore the show’s range. The Album of the Year field includes Anitta’s Equilibrivm, Rosalía’s Lux (Complete Works), Karol G’s Tropicoqueta, Jorge Drexler’s Taracá and recordings by other artists from across Latin music. Winners had not been announced as of October 26.

Why this is bigger than one language

The term ‘Latin music’ can be misleading if it suggests a single musical style. The Academy recognizes work in Spanish, Portuguese and qualifying Indigenous regional languages across dozens of categories. Those distinctions are important because what audiences hear as one enormous market is actually made up of many communities, histories and sounds.

There is a connection here for KHEW listeners. Musical culture is constantly shaped by movement, language and local identity. Artists can embrace a worldwide audience while remaining rooted in a specific place. The most interesting performances are often the ones that allow both truths to be heard.

Additional artists may be announced before November 12, so the Academy’s official channels remain the best place for last-minute lineup changes and viewing details.
